St Philomena's School Moree: A New Chapter of Hope

Friday 24th April 2026, marked a significant milestone for our school, with the official blessing and opening of our new and refurbished state-of-the-art facilities.

We were honoured to welcome Bishop Peter Murphy, Regina Menz (ACS Director), Jamie Chaffey MP, Brendan Moylan MP, Dallas McInerney (CEO of Catholic Schools NSW), Mayor Cr Susannah Pearse, and many other distinguished guests, parents and community members.

These new learning spaces are designed to foster collaboration, communication, and help our students flourish in their faith and education. While the buildings are incredible, we know that the dedication of our teachers, students, and families is what truly makes the learning great.

This vision was made possible thanks to generous contributions, including:

  • $3M from the NSW State Government.
  • $1M from the late Robina Teitzel and Ivy Lillycrap.
  • $8.8M from the St Philomena's school community and Armidale Catholic Schools.

A huge thank you to Dallas McInerney and Catholic Schools NSW for their crucial support, and to the project teams at RPMA, Glendenning Szoboszlay Architects, and North Construction for bringing this project to life. We also thank Principal Alistair Stewart and the outstanding St Philomena's staff for their countless hours of dedication.

Since 1898, St Philomena’s has been a pillar of excellence in Moree. Today, we proudly continue our legacy of "educating as an act of hope."

Here’s to a bright, hope-filled future for every student!

ANZAC Day

Lest we forget. St Philomena's students and staff proudly acknowledged Anzac Day this year with a special service at school, before participating in the Town's Dawn Service and Town March. Our students were especially privileged to be part of the service held in the newly opened Memorial Town Hall.
