Senior School

Dear BMGS Senior School Community,

As we approach the final weeks of Term 1, it has been wonderful to see our Senior School students fully engaged in both their academic and co-curricular pursuits. The past few weeks have been a testament to the dedication, resilience, and enthusiasm of our students as they navigate assessments, leadership responsibilities, and sporting commitments.

Academic Progress and Assessments

With assessment tasks well underway across all year levels, I encourage students to maintain a balanced approach to their studies—ensuring they prepare thoroughly while also prioritising wellbeing. Our teachers are always available to provide guidance and support, and I urge students to seek assistance if needed. For our Year 12 cohort, the halfway point of their HSC journey is fast approaching, and their commitment to their studies is commendable.

Winter Sport & Upcoming Presentations

Winter sport has now concluded, and I would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of all our athletes, coaches, and supporters throughout the season. Next week, we look forward to celebrating the achievements of our Touch Football and Basketball teams at their respective presentation events. These occasions are a wonderful opportunity to recognise individual and team successes and reflect on a fantastic season.

Harmony Day Celebrations

Last week, we celebrated Harmony Day, embracing the theme of inclusivity, respect, and belonging. It was fantastic to see students engage in activities that highlighted the rich cultural diversity within our school community. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event so meaningful.

Commemorating Leadership and Service

Today, our student leaders, accompanied by Principal Mr. Coote, had the honor of attending a special tree planting ceremony at the Corridor of Oaks to commemorate the service of Australia's 29th Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull. The Corridor of Oaks, a significant and symbolic site, honors and commemorates the successive Prime Ministers of Australia since Federation. BMGS was invited to participate in this meaningful ceremony, connecting our school to a larger tradition of respect and remembrance. It was an inspiring day to reflect on leadership and service. Thank you to Blue Mountains City Council for inviting us to take part in this special event.

Leadership in Action

Our student leaders have been actively contributing to the school community, leading initiatives that foster connection and school spirit. House events, charity drives, and student-led activities have brought a great sense of camaraderie across the Senior School. I commend our Year 12 leaders for setting an excellent example for their younger peers.

Looking Ahead

With only a few weeks remaining in the term, I encourage all students to remain focused, engaged, and to finish strongly. As always, we are here to support their journey—academically, socially, and emotionally.

Thank you to our students, parents, and staff for your ongoing commitment to making BMGS a thriving learning community.

Best regards,
