Triumph at the 2026 Yarram Eisteddfod!
Catholic College Sale has capped off an extraordinary week at the 2026 Yarram Eisteddfod, showcasing the immense talent, versatility and dedication of our music students. Competing across vocal, choir, rock band, Gala and instrumental sections, our students represented the College with pride, professionalism and exceptional musicianship.
Members of the public even noted the impressive professionalism and behaviour of our students offstage — a true testament to how they represent our College community.

Special Honours & Adjudicator Commendations
At the conclusion of the Eisteddfod, two CCS students were hand-selected by the adjudicator and committee from the entire pool of entrants across all disciplines for prestigious Adjudicator's Commendation Awards:
- Aiden Ryan: Classical Music — recognising two years of dedication to developing his baritone voice and exploring classical repertoire.
Amelia Jinesh: Recognising her versatility across genres, as well as her energy and support of her younger sister during their duet performance, with her sister also receiving the same honour.
Week at a Glance: Section Highlights
Nights 1 & 2: Vocal Solos & Duets
- CCS Podium Sweep: Night 1 featured a complete CCS podium sweep in the Vocal Solo 14 Years & Under section — 1st Amelia Jinesh, 2nd Maggie Brennan, 3rd Kobi Scicluna.
- Standout Performances: Kobi Scicluna opened the week with 1st Place in Novice Vocal, while Amelia Jinesh secured multiple 1st Place results across solos and duets.
- Senior Success: Emily Nock took top honours in Vocal Solo Popular, while Aiden Ryan & Maggie Brennan secured 1st Place in Open Vocal Duet with "Shallow". Emily Nock also earned 2nd Place in the prestigious Ada Crossley Vocal Solo Open Championship.
Choir Day
- Show Choir: Claimed 1st Place in the Open Choir / Vocal Ensemble with an astonishing 99/100 points for "Hey Ya!" and "Remember My Name".
- Sion Singers: Took 2nd Place (92 points) in Secondary School Students Choir, student-conducted by Isabella Wright and Claire Ingram.
- Male Vocals Crew (MVC): Secured 3rd Place (92 points) in Open Vocal Ensemble with a rich performance of "Misty Mountains" and "Never Tear Us Apart".
Battle of the Bands
- Junior Rock Band: Placed 2nd with 96 points — just one point off 1st Place — and finished ahead of last year's defending champions.
- Strike-238: Delivered a hard-hitting set featuring "The Unforgiven II" and "Come Out and Play", scoring a formidable 91 points in a fiercely contested field.
Gala Variety Night
- 1st Place Winners: Amelia Jinesh (15 & Under Solo/Duo/Trio), Emily Nock (Country Music Solo), Aiden Ryan & Lachlan Marsh (Open Duo/Trio), and the student-led SC26 Crew (Variety Group Open with "You Won't Break What God Rebuilt").
- Last-Minute Teamwork: Isabella Wright learned harmonies on the journey to Yarram to step into a trio with Amelia Jinesh and Maggie Brennan, helping secure 3rd Place in Open Duo/Trio.
Instrumental Day
- Concert Band: Placed 3rd in Percussion/Instrumental Ensemble, performing "Nimbus" and "Mambo No. 5".
- Guitar Ensemble: Placed 3rd in the Bertram Family Band section with atmospheric renditions of "The Sound of Silence" and "Cancion del Mariachi".
A massive thank you to our dedicated music staff for their endless energy, guidance and support throughout the entire Eisteddfod. Thank you also to the parents and family members who travelled to Yarram to cheer from the audience and support our young performers behind the scenes.

Year 7 Music Incursion
We welcomed musicians from St Patrick’s College, Launceston, for a Year 7 Music Incursion.
Our students enjoyed a fantastic live performance and got to see the fun and energy that comes with making music together.
We hope the experience has inspired some of our Year 7 students to give music a go! Students interested in learning an instrument can find out more about the Instrumental Music programs available at CCS.
