Stage 3

A message from Stage 3

"Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn."

                                                                                                       - Benjamin Franklin

Stage 3

With Mr Franklin's words ringing in our ears loudly, we have fully embraced his sentiment. Students have been enriching themselves in everything from writing and STEM, to creative thinking and kindness.

Our novel study in English this term, The Wild Robot, has inspired students to consider the key elements in creating narratives, like plot, characterisation, and literary devices. Students have both analysed the impacts of these upon readers and experimented with using them in their own writing. The mathematicians of Stage 3, are examining strategies to add and subtract decimals mentally and exploring the difference between area and perimetre. During science and technology, classrooms have been taking a close look at what instruments are used to measure variables, such as wind, rainfall, temperature and air pressure. In geography, students are investigating the Asian continent and its cultural and economic significance to Australia. While doing all this, students have also been able to squeeze in some important learning on friendship and even refine their dance moves during creative arts lessons.

Year 6 to 7 - enrol online

The Year 6 to 7 transition and enrolment process is available online. Links to the online Expression of Interest (EOI) and Placement Not Required (PNR) forms are currently available on the moving to high school page and the Ben Venue Public School website must be completed no later than  Friday 27 March 2026.

Please note that a form for all 2026 Year 6 students must be completed, regardless of whether they are attending a public or independent school in 2027. Students attending a NSW public school in 2027 are required to complete the Expression of Interest (EOI) form. If your child does not require a placement in a government high school next year, please complete the Placement Not Required (PNR) form

If you are currently unsure whether your child will be attending a NSW Government school, please still complete an EOI and follow up with us once a decision has been made.

The online process will guide you through your options and collect the information required to make the process as smooth as possible. Information provided via these forms enables us to support your child’s transition to high school and ensures the department can fulfil its duty of care to all students.

If you require paper forms, please see the office. Paper forms must be completed and submitted to the office no later than Tuesday 25 March.
