Feast of Mary MacKillop

Catholics celebrate St. Mary MacKillop on August 8th each year.

She is Australia’s first canonised saint and is remembered for her deep faith, commitment to education, and work with the poor, especially through founding the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart. Her feast day is a special time in Australian Catholic schools to reflect on her life and follow her example of courage, compassion, and service. Jade’s Grade 3 students will lead us in a prayer gathering to celebrate St. Mary MacKillop’s Feast day.

Honouring Mary, Mother of Jesus 

In the Catholic tradition, August is a special month dedicated to Mary, the Mother of Jesus. We particularly honour her on August 15th, the Feast of the Assumption, which celebrates the belief that Mary was taken body and soul into heaven at the end of her earthly life. This feast reminds us of Mary’s deep faith, her "yes" to God, and her special place in God’s plan. Throughout August, Catholics are encouraged to pray the Rosary, reflect on Mary’s life, and ask for her intercession. In our school, we take time to honour Mary through prayer, song, and acts of kindness, following her example of love, humility, and trust in God. We will be led by Grade 3 Deb in a prayer gathering to celebrate the Assumption of Mary.

Sacramental News

The next opportunity to celebrate the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation will be at mass on August 9th and 10th. If your child has completed the preparation program, you can register at

Congratulations to Eli Brumby, Maggie Cone and Isabella Asidor who have all completed their sacraments during the past couple of months.

Prayer Gathering

Tomorrow, Rachael Cahill's Grade 5 class will lead us in a "Promise" themed Prayer Gathering. All welcome.
