Hello Families
What a busy start to Term 3!
100 Days of Prep Celebration
This term, we proudly celebrated 100 Days of Prep—a joyful milestone marking the incredible journey our youngest learners have taken since starting school.
At Melton Specialist School, every day in Prep is filled with growth, discovery, and connection. Over the past 100 days, they have built friendships, developed routines, and embraced learning with curiosity and enthusiasm. Their resilience and joy have been inspiring to watch.
Our celebration was filled with fun activities, laughter, and a sense of pride. It was a chance to reflect on how far our students have come and to acknowledge the support of our dedicated staff and families who walk alongside them every step of the way.
To our prep students—congratulations! You’ve made a wonderful start to your school journey. We are so proud of you. To our families—thank you for your ongoing partnership and support. Together, we’re building strong foundations for lifelong learning.
Here’s to the next 100 days and beyond!
Celebrating Culture and Connection
Over the past few weeks, our school has been enriched by two incredible cultural experiences—the Djirri Djirri dancers and the Learn to Play Didgeridoo workshops with Sean Candy.
These events have brought First Nations culture, language, and tradition into our classrooms in powerful and engaging ways. The Djirri Djirri dancers shared stories, movement. Students danced with joy and listened with curiosity.
The didgeridoo workshops offered another layer of learning, especially for our male students. Led by Palawa man Sean Candy, students explored the cultural significance of the didgeridoo, learned how to play, and discovered the calming power of circular breathing. It was hands-on, heart-filled learning that built pride, confidence, and connection.
These experiences are more than just special events—they reflect our commitment to the Marrung Vision, where strong Koorie identity, culture, and pride are part of everyday learning for all students and staff. We are proud to be creating a school environment where culture is celebrated, respected, and shared.
Thank you to our staff, families, and community members who helped make these moments possible. Together, we are building a stronger, more inclusive future for our students.
Book Week 2025
We’re excited to celebrate Book Week next week at Melton Specialist School! This is a wonderful opportunity to foster a love of reading and storytelling across our school community.
This year have chosen ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’, by Michael Rosen. This story is about a family who go on a bear hunt and encounter various obstacles on their journey.
📚 Dress-Up Day – Friday, 22nd August
To wrap up the week, we invite all students and staff to come dressed as their favourite book character on Friday. Whether it’s a classic fairytale figure, a superhero from a graphic novel, or a beloved animal from a picture book, we can’t wait to see everyone’s creativity shine!
Thank you for your continued support in making Book Week a memorable experience for our students.
Principal’s Day – Thank You!
Thank you to everyone who helped make Principal’s Day so memorable. Your kind words, amazing artwork, cards and warm wishes were truly appreciated and deeply touching.
It is an honour to lead such a passionate and caring school community. Every day, I am inspired by the dedication of our staff, the enthusiasm of our students, and the unwavering support from our families.
Thank you for making me feel so valued and for being such an important part of what makes Melton Specialist School a truly special place.
