Celebrating Great Teaching

Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome a group of principals and regional staff to Banyule Primary School for a series of Learning Walks. Our visitors spent time in classrooms observing excellent teaching practice in action, with a particular focus on Explicit Instruction and the techniques and strategies that support effective student learning.

Explicit Instruction has been a key focus of our professional learning and school improvement goals over the past two years. It was wonderful to showcase the high-quality teaching happening across our school and share our practice with colleagues from other schools.

Congratulations to our teachers, who opened their classrooms and welcomed others into their learning spaces. We understand that being observed can feel a little nerve-wracking, but your professionalism, confidence and commitment to sharing your practice were outstanding. We are incredibly proud of the teaching and learning culture we continue to build at BPS.

Celebrating Outstanding School Performance

We are also pleased to share the outcomes of the School Performance Report, released by the Education Department last week. The report places all government schools into one of four performance groups based on a range of learning and wellbeing data sets.

While the results are consistent with what we already know about the strength of our school, it is very pleasing to see Banyule Primary School continue to be recognised in the High performance category. We are particularly delighted with our High Improved rating in the wellbeing area, reflecting the importance we place on supporting the whole child and ensuring every student feels safe, supported and ready to learn.

These achievements are a testament to the collective efforts of our dedicated staff, our students and our families. Thank you for the important role you each play in making Banyule Primary School such a wonderful place to learn and grow.

What a wonderful time to be part of the BPS community!

There is so much to celebrate at the moment. From the excitement of our Colour Run to the generosity and enthusiasm shown by families supporting our fundraising efforts, it is wonderful to see our community come together to make a difference.

Every contribution, big or small, helps us enhance our school grounds and create engaging, welcoming outdoor spaces for our students to enjoy. We are incredibly grateful for the time, energy and generosity of everyone who gets involved. It is this strong sense of community and shared commitment to our students that makes Banyule Primary School such a special place to be.

Together, we continue to bring our motto to life: Happy Kids Learn!
