Old Canteen – Asbestos Removal and Demolition Preparations

This weekend, asbestos removal works will take place at our old canteen building in preparation for its demolition.

In accordance with safety requirements, all asbestos removal works will be undertaken outside of normal school operating hours, when students, staff, outside school hours care programs and community groups are not on site.

The works will be carried out by licensed asbestos removalists, who will establish appropriate exclusion zones and safety signage to ensure the area remains secure throughout the process.

We ask all members of our school community to respect the locked school gates and refrain from entering the school grounds over the weekend while these works are underway.

An independent occupational hygienist will also be on site to conduct air monitoring and provide the necessary clearance before students and staff return to school on Wednesday.

The safety and wellbeing of our students, staff and broader community remain our highest priority. We appreciate everyone's understanding and cooperation as we undertake these important preparations for the removal of the old canteen building.

Bike and Scooter Security

Unfortunately, over the past week, we have had two bikes taken from the school grounds. This is incredibly disappointing, particularly for the students and families affected.

While we encourage students to ride or scoot to school as a healthy and active way to travel, these incidents serve as a timely reminder of the importance of keeping bikes and scooters secure.

We ask all families to ensure that bikes and scooters are secured with a suitable lock when brought to school. We also encourage families to consider leaving expensive bikes and scooters at home, where possible, to minimise the risk of theft or damage.

While we hope incidents like these do not occur again, taking a few simple precautions can help protect students' belongings.

World Teachers' Day – Celebrating Our Wonderful Teachers!

Today we celebrate World Teachers' Day, an opportunity to recognise and acknowledge the incredible work of our teachers and the important role they play in the lives of our students.

As a school, we are incredibly fortunate to have a dedicated, passionate and hardworking team of teachers who go above and beyond each day to support the learning, growth and wellbeing of our students.

Teaching is so much more than delivering lessons. Our teachers build meaningful relationships, create inclusive and engaging learning environments, celebrate individual strengths, nurture curiosity and confidence, and support students through both their achievements and challenges. Much of this work happens quietly, behind the scenes, and extends well beyond the classroom.

On behalf of our school community, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our teachers for their professionalism, care, commitment and the positive difference they make every day.

Student Free Day – Monday 2 November

A reminder that Monday 2 November is a student-free day, with staff undertaking their Professional Practice Day, focusing on student assessment and Semester 2 reporting.

We wish all our students and families a safe, relaxing and enjoyable long weekend and look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Wednesday!
