Lunch and Recess activities
For some students, the school oval or playground can be overwhelming during play times. There may be too many people, or too much noise, or students may feel anxious about choosing a game or activity in the unstructured environment.
To support our student's wellbeing, we are thrilled to once again be able to offer a range of activities at recess and lunch times.
Our students have access to the garden space with the support of Dilanjali and the outdoor STEM space for quiet activities every recess, and have the option to borrow Loose parts 4 recesses a week- this is where they let their imagination run wild with recycled goods such as old tyres, old phones, planks of wood, and plastic tubing.
At lunch times our PALs student mentors run games and activities which support our younger children in developing social skills, and building relationships with their peers. This is offered every day, and the mentors change the activities each session, so there is always variety at PALs.
Throughout the week, our students also have access to the outdoor STEM space; PE activities; dance and Wakakirri programs; reading and games in the library; the performing arts space; indoor STEM for activities such as Lego, craft, and robotics; and the loose parts facilities.
If you, or your child have any ideas of other play activities our students might enjoy, please reach out. We would love to hear from you! Additionally, if you have any card or board games in good condition, that you no longer use at home, we would love to rehome them to support our students at play times.
Disability Awareness Workshop - Just Like You
We are excited to announce that in Week 8, Tuesday 17 March, each class will participate in a free, on-site disability awareness workshop titled 'Just Like You'. The workshops are designed to be age-appropriate and will help students develop a deeper understanding of various disabilities.
The aim of these workshops is to promote empathy by highlighting the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities, celebrating the uniqueness of all people, and challenging common misconceptions.
For more information on the 'Just Like You' program, please visit Just Like You – NSW.
