A Special Celebration for Our TPS Mums!
Over 100 TPS mums came together at The Terrace to celebrate the amazing mothers in our Toorak Primary School community. The event was a huge success, with mums enjoying a delicious lunch whilst mingling with friends old and new. A Mother’s Day raffle and silent auction raised over $12,000 (approximate amount only), which will go towards a new kiln for the Art Room and additional outdoor seating for the school.
A very special thank you to Michelle Stephens and Bonnie Wright for meticulously organising such a wonderful day, along with the many generous sponsors and donors of goods and services from our wider community.
If you missed this year’s event, we hope to see you at our 2027 Mother’s Day Luncheon!
Winter Play Offs
On the 15th of May, a select group of TPS students travelled to Port Melbourne PS and Murphy Reserve to compete in the Winter Play Offs. Our netball team, girls’ soccer team, mixed soccer team and hockey team all represented our school with pride. A special shoutout to the mixed soccer team who made the final and finished 2nd in the tournament and our hockey team who finished 3rd in their tournament.
Grade 3 to 6 House Athletics Carnival
Last Wednesday, all Grade 3 to 6 students travelled to Lakeside Stadium to participate in the annual House Athletics Carnival. We were very pleased to see the sun shining for most of the day.
Students had been busy preparing for the Athletics Carnival during PE classes and were excited to compete in a variety of track and field events throughout the day.
This year, the house points were incredibly close. Congratulations to Monash for being our winning house, followed by Hinkler in 2nd place, Kingsford in 3rd and Nelson in 4th.
A big thank you to all of our parent volunteers who helped make the day run so smoothly.
District Cross Country
The Beachside Division Cross Country was held yesterday at Bald Hill Park. Thankfully, the rain held off!
Our qualifiers, Sienna and Hanna, ran their hearts out, competing against approximately 60 students in their age-group race. Congratulations to Sienna, who placed 28th overall, and to both girls for their fantastic effort, determination and sportsmanship.
Family Maths Night
Last week, we hosted our annual Family Maths Night, which was a great success with many of our families attending. It was wonderful to see familiar faces from previous years, as well as many new families joining us for the first time.
The evening began in the Library before families dispersed to classrooms and the playground to participate in a range of engaging maths activities and challenges. There was plenty of excitement and competitive spirit as families moved from one maths challenge to the next, completing their passports along the way to go into the draw to win some amazing prizes.
Thank you to all of the students and families who joined us for this fantastic community event.
Grade 1's Excursion to the Melbourne Zoo
Last week, our Year 1 students thoroughly enjoyed their excursion to Melbourne Zoo.
Students had a wonderful time seeing all of the animals and learning about the habitats and features of a range of different species during their workshops. Some fun facts the students discovered included that giraffes have four stomachs and tortoises need sunlight to help keep their shells hard and protective.
Australia's Biggest Morning Tea
We enjoyed a scrumptious morning last Thursday in support of the Australian Cancer Council’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea. Our staffroom table was filled with delicious home-baked treats and beautiful fresh fruit. If you would like to donate to this wonderful cause, please scan the QR code.
Principals of the Day
Last week, we had four Principals leading our school for the day — Ms D, Mr Jack P, Mr Zane C and Mr Nicholas C. The morning began with our Junior Principals designing their own name badge before meeting together to share suggestions on ways we could continue to improve our school. Throughout the day, they visited classrooms, awarded tokens to students demonstrating our school values, made important announcements over the speakers and assisted Ms D at Assembly. One of the highlights of the day was enjoying a hot Milo made by Ms D while relaxing in the staffroom!
Thank you to our Junior Principals for doing such a fantastic job leading our school.
