RE Learning in Prep MD

Dear God,

Help us to practice gratefulness each day.

Teach us to say thank you for our families, friends, teachers and all the good things we have.

Helps us to notice small joys and show kindness to others,

May our hearts always be full of gratitude.

Amen

In Prep MD we have been exploring the power of gratitude in our morning mindfulness sessions. We created a special prayer mat with our grateful hands. We welcomed ideas on how a happy grateful heart has an impact on our mental mindset and encouraged us to be positive when we are faced with a challenge. As learners we are practicing gratitude at school and at home. Here are some of our beautiful responses.

Chloe: I am grateful for nature.

Hugo: I am grateful for the planets.

Noah: I am grateful for footy.

Grace: I am grateful for friends.

Spencer: I am grateful for school

Ella: I am grateful for my brothers

Harry: I am grateful for my teddy bears.

Sunday Gospel

The liturgy of the Catholic Church provides a framework for reflection which is used by Catholics throughout the world. Each week in the Newsletter, you will find the Sunday Gospel as well as some discussion questions to have with your child/ren.

A reading from the holy Gospel according to John

In the evening of the first day of the week, the doors were closed in the room where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews. Jesus came and stood among them. He said to them, ‘Peace be with you’, and showed them his hands and his side. The disciples were filled with joy when they saw the Lord, and he said to them again, ‘Peace be with you.

‘As the Father sent me, so am I sending you.’

After saying this he breathed on them and said:

‘Receive the Holy Spirit. For those whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven: for those whose sins you retain, they are retained.’

Discussion Questions

1. On Sunday, we celebrate the coming of the Spirit. Who do you know who is a Spirit-filled person?

2. What sort of things show that a person is Spirit-filled?

Let us ask the Holy Spirit to come into our hearts so that we may be Spirit filled.
