Welcome to Term 2.

I hope the school holiday time provided some rest and relaxation for families.  It is important for students to have a change of routine from the school term so that they can rest and refocus for another term of learning.

Parent-Teacher-Student Conversations

Parent-Teacher-Student conversations will take place during the first week of the Term on Tuesday, 21st and Thursday, 23rd April.  This is one of the formal ways that the school connects with families to share student progress and discuss the next steps of learning.  Teachers will be available in the Library or the ground floor of Building B.  There are also some online times available if you want to link via video meeting.

School Production 2026 - "When I Grow up"

We are excited to announce that the dates for the St Simon's School Production 2026 will be Tuesday, 6th and Wednesday, 7th October.

The production is called "When I Grow Up" and is the story of a young girl searching to find her place in the world.

Auditions for the main cast were held during Term 1, with over 50 enthusiastic and talented Years 5 and 6 students putting themselves forward for a role in the show.

The school production team had an extremely tough task deciding and allocating roles, as the quality of the auditions was so high.  The main cast will be announced this Wednesday.

We are so proud of the courage shown by every student who auditioned and as results are shared, we want to emphasise that while not everyone will be get a main cast role, the resilience gained from this experience and the incredible effort put forth are far more important than the role itself, and we truly value their continued participation in all other part of the school production including their class item.

More details about our preparations for the school production will be shared through the newsletter over Terms 2 and 3.

First Reconciliation for Year 3s

Over the months of April and May, please keep in mind our students in Year Three and their families, many of whom will be preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confession (Reconciliation) for the first time.  This weekend, students are invited to attend one of the weekend masses as part of their commitment to the preparation to receive the con

Student Representative Council 2026

The 2026 Student Representative Council has been announced, and SRC representatives will receive their SRC badge at Monday's School Assembly on 27th April.  Parents and families are welcome to attend.

Canteen News

Canteen service will resume for Term Two on Friday 1st May.

As of Term 2, there will be some price increases across the canteen menu. This is in response to increased stock expenses and to support the paid canteen coordinator role introduced this year.  Our canteen continues to need the support of parent volunteers on canteen service days, while the canteen coordinator ensures the "back of house" ordering, online platform operations and compliance are maintained and ready for service.

The Menu will be launched via the nForma app shortly with the new pricing taking effect on Friday, 1st May.

School Closure Days Terms 2 and 3 - 2026

Throughout the year, the school schedules several school closure days for staff to engage in professional learning and compliance activities. There are also days scheduled for time-in-lieu (TIL) activities that staff attend and run outside the normal hours of the school day. These days are used to acquitt these hours.

When a school closure day is scheduled, Beyond Edu Care will operate a program of care for the day so that families can have their children looked after on the school site.
