What a great night!! Thank you to all the SFS staff for their support. We could not hold events like this without them. We would also like to thank Parents & Friends for cooking hundreds of sausages; the staff and students really appreciated their snack!! We would also like to thank the parents that assisted us to put up the marquees in the afternoon and then helped us to take them down at the end of the night. It was definitely a community event with everyone joining in to make it a great evening.

And I am so proud of all our students. Their cheering was amazing and they demonstrated great sportsmanship. A group of our Grade 6s demonstrated their leadership as they assisted with Twilight Sports. We had students helping lead the cheering with their Houses, returning students to their Houses after the races and preparing juniors for their races. Thank you to the Grade 6s!! We are very proud of you!!

It was a close competition and we would like to congratulate all the students and staff in each House for a fantastic effort! Congratulations to Teresa for winning the House Sports Shield for 2026!! Well done! And a big congratulations to all Houses for their cheering!! Well done to MacKillop for winning the House Spirit Shield for 2026!

We would also like to congratulate Chitra and Viraj for winning the Grade 6 Gift.  They will now have the opportunity to attend District Athletics to represent SFS in the 100 metre race. Other Senior students who came first in their running race will also have the opportunity to try out later in the year for District Cross Country.

A big thanks to everyone for your support!

The Grade 5/6 students demonstrated attentive listening during their recent training session in anticipation of their first Interschool Sport competition. The teachers provided active support to enhance the students' development in their sport and addressed any questions they had. Wishing them the best of luck in their first Interschool Competition against Rivergum Primary School on Friday 27th of March, which is an away game.

BIKE EDUCATION

The students are cycling beyond the school premises. We primarily navigated the bike paths around Banjo Paterson.  I felt that they needed to communicate the essential commands from the instructor to each other and understand them.  As they encountered pedestrians and fellow cyclists, the students demonstrated commendable conduct towards one another and the broader community. They adhered to all the safety protocols we had instructed them on and communicated effectively, ensuring that everyone enjoyed the cycling experience. Furthermore, this will assist the students in developing confidence in their ability to anticipate various situations while riding their bikes.

SIMPLY YOUR BEST PROGRAM

Monday Senior students were involved in the NRL Program ‘Simply Your Best’. Ali the NRL Education Officer used NRL as the basis to talk to the students about what it means to be your best. It linked in beautifully with our school values and our patron saint’s quote “Be who you are and be that well.”

Students were engaged throughout the presentation and at the end enjoyed some team building activities in their home groups. Teachers also joined in the fun!!! Thanks Ali for a great session!!

GRADE 6 BIKE EDUCATION

Next Friday our Grade 6's will continue their 2nd level of Bike Education: Pathways. They will be using the skills they have learnt, riding on pathways in the community.

Parents please ensure your child’s bike and helmet is at school next Friday March 13th. If you have dropped your child’s bike off it can remain in the bike shed for the duration of the program. Students who do not have bikes and parents indicated this on nForma will be able to use a school bike and helmet but we only have limited amounts of school bikes.

If your child is riding to school a reminder that bike helmets are compulsory and students will need to dismount their bikes on school grounds and walk. Bikes can be placed in front of their Learning Space. Like always if raining heavily in the morning we ask that bikes be left at home.

URGENT - VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED

We are still looking for parent helpers to assist with the pathways program. To assist you must have a current Working with Children Check registered with the school office. If you are able to ride a bike and assist between 11.35-1.30 on the following days:

Friday March 13th

Friday March 20th

Friday March 27th

Even if you can only assist with one session please contact me at gfaiola@sfslynbrook.catholic.edu.au We have bicycles available for your use. Without assistance, the program will be difficult to run.

JUNIORS

In order to assist you will need to have a current Working with Children Check, which is registered with the school.

If you are able to assist and run some sporting clinics on one of the following days from 11.40-3.10 please email me at gfaiola@sfslynbrook.catholic.edu.au

Monday 16th March

Monday 23rd March

This would be a fantastic opportunity for our Junior students to experience a variety of sports.
