BOOK WEEK 2026
During the week classes will be focusing on the books nominated in the Early Childhood and Picture Book sections of the Children’s Book Council of Australia 2026 awards. The Younger Reader – Novels, are also available for loan from the School Library.
This year we will be celebrating Children’s Book Week from next Monday 24th of August until Friday 28th of August.
We will finish the week off with our most exciting event, the Dress-Up Parade, on Friday at 9am. This will be in the undercover court area. Parents and friends are welcome to attend. Thank you for your support of this event as it is a highlight of the school year for the students.
This year’s theme is “A Symphony of Stories” The students and teachers are invited to come to school dressed to this theme OR as their favourite book character. There are no prizes, so please don’t feel you need to go out and purchase expensive costumes. A little imagination goes a long way! I am always amazed at the creativity of teachers, students and parents for this event.

Did you know ...... we have tadpoles!
The Grades 2's were very excited when Aurora found them in a puddle at her house and brought them to Science 2 weeks ago. We got busy researching what they need to survive and lucky for us, it was a rainy day, and we were able to collect lots of fresh rainwater for their tank. We learned that they feed off algae so there were immediately lots of volunteers offering to get some from the troughs on their farms. Our first batch has come from Archie, who sent his Dad up a ladder to collect it from the gutters of their house (thanks Dad!). This week, we definitely noticed changes in these tiny little creatures, they must be very happy with their algae as they very obviously had plumped up. We can't wait to see if we get some frogs in the coming weeks!
