Welcome to the 2026 school year at Team Westbreen...

It’s been lovely to see how well our students have settled back into the school routine and how well our new Foundation students have adapted to school life after only 2 days.

For our families that are new to Team Westbreen, you are invited to join us every Wednesday morning when we have our whole school assembly in the Specialist Building.  Grandparents, aunts & uncles, cousins, are all welcome to come along, especially when you child is Student of the Week. There are some seats available at the back of the Specialist Centre, or you are welcome to stand if you need to leave after the Student of the Week certificates have been presented. We like to start assembly by 9:10 – 9:15am but it maybe a little later while we reestablish our usual Wednesday morning routine.

Our fantastic School Captains, Wren & Aahil, are excited to be leading our 2026 assembly which starts with our National Anthem, then our Students of the Week will receive their certificate from Miss Megan or Mr Kenny. We have weekly awards for the winners of Nude Food and House points, and every 2nd week you will hear jokes from Mr Kenny.  Mr Kenny does share some of his favourite “dad jokes,” but is also happy when our students help him by finding some new, maybe funnier, jokes, and placing them in his mailbox located in our school office.

Family Time is moving to Thursdays in 2026

This year Family Time will be held on Thursdays from 3:15–4:15pm (except for the first and last week of each term). Sessions take place in the Specialist Building, library, or outdoors when the weather is fine. Family Time is run by two of our fabulous parents, Atika and Rhoda, with Miss Kerry also in attendance.  Miss Megan is excited about attending Family Time as well so she can get to know our community and for you to get to know her.

Family Time is a wonderful opportunity for children and their families/carers to enjoy fun activities together while building connections and extending their social networks within the Team Westbreen community. We especially love it when younger siblings come along too! Please note that children are unable to attend unless accompanied by an adult, who must supervise them throughout each session.

Some of the activities we have enjoyed include Lego building, puzzles, board games, arts and crafts, bubbles and chalk art outdoors, Mini Olympic games, and special craft activities for events such as Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Halloween. These are just examples from past sessions—we are always open to new ideas and welcome suggestions from children and families for something different.
