OSHC News : Update from the Service Coordinator

Theircare runs quality Before and After School Care at Menzies Creek Primary School four days a week. We are open before school from 7am, offering breakfast and activities for children who need care in the mornings. After school we are open until 6pm. Theircare welcomes all families, whether for regular or occasional care.

The OSHC program is largely student driven and we engage in activities that follow the children’s interests. At the moment, some children are into soccer and indoor tennis and others are enjoying doing cardboard craft. We share afternoon tea every afternoon and the children help to decide on the menu.

Last week, during science week Elijah and Libby made homemade butter. It took a long time to beat the cream and Elijah had to use all his arm muscles to make it separate into butter and buttermilk. We then used the butter for fairy bread, Yum!

Another fun activity we did recently was Blind Buildings. The children had a selection of blocks and paper cups and plates and had to make buildings using all the components whilst blindfolded. It was trickier than we thought it would be. 

We encourage all families to enrol. It is free to enrol and an amazing support for those times where you need care before or afterschool. Plus it can cost as little as $3 to attend these sessions with the Child Care Subsidy.
