Wishing all students and families a relaxing and safe holiday break. We look forward to welcoming students back to school on Tuesday 13 October, ready for our last term of the 2026 school year.

Check-in Assessments for Stage 2 and 3 Students

Over the past 3 weeks, students in Years 3-6 completed their check-in assessments.

The Check-in assessment is an annual assessment for NSW Public School students in Years 3 to 9. All students complete a reading and a numeracy  test. Year 6 students also complete an online writing task. The tests are designed to take up to 60 minutes, however, there is no time limit. Students can have extra time if required.

The Check-in assessments support the identification of student performance in literacy and numeracy and give timely feedback to inform next steps in teaching and learning. They support teachers in analysing strengths and determining areas of focus.

They are designed to:

  • provide an overview of student learning across a year level

  • identify student misconceptions

  • support planning and programming

  • complement other in-school assessments and teacher observations.

Armidale Creative Streets Festival 2026

We are extremely excited to be a part of the 2026 Armidale Creative Streets Festival, which will be held from Saturday 17 October to 9 November. We will be contributing student art installations to be displayed as part of the festival, including an artwork which will be used as the backdrop for the Culture Stage in the lane behind Hanna's Arcade. Some of our students, including the Stage 3 Dance Elective Group and our line dancers, will be participating in a number of dance performances on opening night, which they have been eagerly learning and rehearsing. Further details will be sent via School Bytes for the students involved.

Just like last year's festival, the 2026 Creative Streets Festival is Armidale's celebration of creativity, culture and community. Festival events and opening night are set to provide a wonderful experience of live music, dance and art for all the family.
