Book Week Author Visits
As part of our Book Week celebrations, we were thrilled to welcome three wonderful authors and illustrators to our school, with each visit tailored to inspire our students at different stages of their learning.
Our Prep–Grade 1 students enjoyed a visit from Heidi McKinnon, who read some of her stories and shared her love of books and characters. The students then had fun creating their own drawings of monsters and Floof, bringing the characters to life in their own way.
Students in Grades 2–5 were excited to meet Ben Wood, who brought along some of his original sketches and gave the students a glimpse into his creative process. They then put their own observation and drawing skills to the test by drawing their own Real Pigeons!
Our Grade 6 students spent a full day with poet Solli Raphael in an engaging poetry workshop. Throughout the day, they explored different ways to write and express themselves, created their own poems and then presented their work to others. It was fantastic to see their creativity and confidence shine throughout the day.
It was a wonderful way to celebrate Book Week and encourage our students to read, create and share their own ideas. A big thank you to Heidi, Ben and Solli for inspiring our students and making our 2026 Book Week so memorable!
