NEWS & ADMINISTRATION

Mrs Caroline Galea

Dear Parents,

I hope you have all had a wonderful fortnight. Just a reminder that this Saturday is our working bee from 8.00am -12 pm. If you happen to have a spare hour, we would love your assistance.   You are welcome to bring your children with you.

Last week, we held the final story time session for 2023.  Thank you to the parents and children that attended and to Mrs Scamporlino for organising the last session.

Our first Orientation session will be taking place on Wednesday 1st November.

Working Bee

WE NEED YOU!!!  Can you help out? Please get in touch with Adrian G or Derryn Ling if you are available to help out on the day. Some jobs will include cleaning the canteen kitchen, sweeping up leaves, concreting some blue stones, painting some steps and lines.

Prep 2024 Orientation and Parent Information Session

After a month of wonderful Story Time sessions, we look forward to welcoming our Prep 2024 students and families for their first Orientation Session. This will be a two hour orientation session on Wednesday 1st November for the students with the Prep teachers and an information session and morning tea for the parents.  We look forward to meeting all our excited students and their families.

Save the Date!

For our Christmas Carols evening..... Tuesday 12th December @5.30pm.

Time is passing by quickly and our Carols will be here before you know it.  Plans have begun with the outline of the evening- hopefully the weather will play its part.  Keep the evening free.  There will be a sausage sizzle prior to the Carols.

Choir Performance at Summerhill Shopping Centre

Our school choir, led by Ms Rosa Zannoni, have been invited to perform some Christmas songs at the launch of the annual Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal, at our local Summerhill Shopping Centre, on Monday 13 November at 10.00am.

We are very proud of our choir,  so if you have a spare 15 mins or so, please pop by to see them in action!

School Sunglasses  &  Legionnaire Hats

Can be purchased at the office.  You can pay by cash, eftpos or credit card in person or over the phone.   Hats are  $13   &  school issue sunglasses  $15.

Could we please ask all parents to check their child's glasses, as badly scratched lenses can be detrimental to your child's eye health, and make it difficult for them to see properly.

Children not Returning in 2024

If your child/ren, other than this year's Gr6 students, are not returning to Holy Name in 2024, could you please advise me via an email (principal@hnpe.catholic.edu.au), ideally as soon possible, as we will soon be looking at and preparing our class lists for 2024.

SAC

The Holy Name School Advisory Council meets once a term in the evening to assist in school matters.  Our next meeting will be the last for this year.  One of our current members has come to the end of their time, which means we are seeking a new representative.  If this is something that you might be interested in or want to learn more about, please come and speak to either Derryn or Caroline.

Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday 8th November.

Term 4 Fee Statements

If you have any queries about your Term 4 Fee Statement which was recently emailed to you, please contact the school office or Bursar.  Unless you have a direct debit or prior arrangement with the Principal, all fees are due please by Friday, 24 November, 2023.

Remembrance Day Poppy Appeal 2023

The school office has Remembrance Day badges, wristbands and pens for sale, ranging from $2 to $5.   Since WW1, the poppy has a tradition of being a symbol to remember those who have died in war while serving their country and the red colour symbolises hope. The sale of these products enables the RSL to continue their good works, and will be available until Friday 10 Nov.   Remembrance Day is the 11th of November.

2024

Plans are well on the way for the 2024 school year.  This is the hardest time for a school as we continue the busy Term 4 while simultaneously laying plans for 2024.

Staff will begin school on Monday 29th January, our Preps will come in from 9-11 on Tuesday 30th January.  All children Prep-Year 6 will be expected at school from Wednesday 31st January.

Children's Absence from School

A reminder that if your child is absent from school for any reason, a phone call to the office or email to the teacher (please cc the office) is a requirement.

If your family is going on holiday during the school term, please email the Principal.
