 Mr Derryn Ling

We started the term with a welcome mass for Father John O'Connor.  It was great for the children to meet and be able to engage with him. Class masses started this week too. Parents and families are more than welcome to attend. 5/6Z and 3/4M attended the parish mass this week and it was great for them to be able to interact with Father John. Next week we have another 5/6 and 3/4 class attending mass.

OCTOBER IS THE MONTH OF THE ROSARY

The Catholic Church traditionally dedicates each month to a specific devotion, and October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary, with the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary on October 7.

The Rosary focuses on events from the New Testament, centering on the Incarnation and Redemption, with each decade representing an event in the lives of Jesus and Mary. It provides a condensed overview of Christ's life and His relationship with His Mother.

The Rosary is divided into four sets of mysteries:

  1. Joyful Mysteries: These depict events from Jesus' childhood, primarily based on Saint Luke's Gospel.
  2. Luminous Mysteries: These offer insights into the public life of Jesus, bridging the gap between His childhood and His crucifixion.
  3. Sorrowful Mysteries: These emphasize Jesus' love for humanity and His sacrifice on the cross for our salvation.
  4. Glorious Mysteries: These narrate events after Jesus' death, including His Resurrection, the descent of the Holy Spirit, and His love for His Mother.

Praying the Rosary during October is a way to honor and meditate on these significant events in Christian faith and to deepen one's devotion to Mary.
