District Cross Country
Congratulations to all our District Cross Country runners who competed at Ballam Park last Friday, 23rd May. We proudly sent 65 students from Years 3–6 to represent our school in a fantastic day of perseverance, resilience, and fun.
A huge well done to the following students who have qualified for Division Cross Country, which will be held on Wednesday, 4th June at Hastings Foreshore:
U12/13 Boys – Abel A – 9th place
U11 Boys – Sam B – 3rd place
U10 Boys – Nate B – 8th place
U10 Girls – Willow McV – 7th place
A special mention to Millie N, who placed 8th in the U9 Girls – a fantastic effort! Unfortunately, only the top 5 progress in this age group, but we’re incredibly proud of her achievement.
A standout moment from the day was Sam B's exemplary sportsmanship. After receiving his third place medal in the U11 race, he was seen immediately congratulating the first and second place finishers. A truly touching moment from the day came when Zac J injured his knee during his race. Without hesitation, his Year 5/6 friends rallied around him, walking alongside him for the final leg of the course. With cheers, chants, and encouragement, they helped Zac finish with pride.
It was a display of team spirit, empathy, and friendship—a moment that reminded us all what school sport is really about. Well done, team! We are so proud of everyone who participated.
Thank you to our dedicated staff – Mrs Cooper, Mrs Munns, Ms Besley, Ms Brickwood, and Mrs Edgar – for supporting our runners. And a very big thank you to our superstar parent volunteer, Shan McGann, who assisted as a track marshall, helped to set up and pack down the marquee, and even offered to clean our muddy ground tarp. Your help was greatly appreciated!
We’re thrilled to announce that the Westernport Basketball Association will be running the Ford Aussie Hoops program at our school in Week 9!
This fun and engaging program introduces students to basketball through warm-up games, skill-based activities, and modified matches—all led by accredited coaches. There will also be a lunch-time session for all basketball enthusiasts to enjoy!
This Friday, our Year 5/6 students will travel by bus to Ballam Park Primary School for the final round of Interschool Sports.
We wish all teams the best of luck as they prepare for the upcoming Lightning Premiership on Wednesday, 11th June.
Thank you everyone!
