Bully Zero Student Incursion – Monday 19th Oct
On Monday 19 October (Week 3), WNPS will welcome Bully Zero to work with our students on understanding, recognising and responding to bullying.
Students will take part in an approximately one-hour session within their year-level groups – Prep, Years 1/2, Years 3/4 and Years 5/6. The presentations will help students understand what bullying is and what it is not, how bullying can affect others, and what they can do if they experience or witness it.
This work also aligns with the school values that will be formally introduced at WNPS in 2027, as well as our School-Wide Positive Behaviour Strategies (SWPBS). In particular, Belonging reflects our ongoing commitment to ensuring every student feels welcomed, included, valued and safe.
Importantly, the presentation will be followed by classroom lessons and discussions to reinforce these messages and support students with practical strategies.
Families can support at home by asking their child what they learnt and discussing questions such as:
What is the difference between bullying and a disagreement?
What could you do if you saw someone being bullied or left out?
Who are the trusted adults you could speak to?
How can you help others feel safe and included?
We have also organised a parent information session on Wednesday 28 October from 6:00pm–7:30pm. The online presentation, It Takes a Village, will focus on helping parents and carers better understand bullying behaviours, recognise possible signs of bullying both at home and at school, and develop practical strategies to support and protect children who may be affected. If you are unable to attend the live session, a recording will be shared with families via Compass and the school newsletter shortly afterwards and will remain available to view for 7 days.
We look forward to continuing to work together to support a safe, inclusive and supportive school community for every student.
Kind regards,
The Wellbeing Team (Dave Gardner, Matt Feeley and Crissy Samaras).
