Helping your Kids to be Safe Online

Families play a vital role in helping them develop safe and responsible digital habits. We encourage parents and carers to regularly check the apps their children are using, discuss online safety expectations, and ensure privacy settings are appropriately configured.

The Australian eSafety Commissioner recommends that families take an active interest in their child's online world and have ongoing conversations about respectful behaviour, cyberbullying, sharing personal information, and reporting concerns.

Many popular apps have minimum age limits:

  • Roblox (13+ for some features and experiences, parental guidance recommended)
  • Instagram (16+ in Australia under current social media age restrictions)
  • TikTok (16+ in Australia)
  • Snapchat (16+ in Australia)
  • Facebook (16+ in Australia).

We encourage families to visit the eSafety Commissioner website for practical advice, app guides, and resources to support safe technology use at home.

Nedd's Uncomfortable Challenge

This week, students are participating in Nedd's Uncomfortable Challenge, an initiative focused on building resilience, perseverance and courage through stepping outside of their comfort zones.

Exploring some ideas for personal goals

Throughout the challenge, students have set their own personal goals designed to stretch them beyond what feels easy or familiar. These challenges are unique to each student and include commitments such as running 3km each morning, taking a cold shower each day, achieving a daily reading goal, practising 10 minutes of mindfulness, or developing a new healthy habit. By embracing these challenges, students are learning that growth often comes from doing things that are difficult.

Alongside their personal challenges, students are participating in classroom lessons focused on resilience, growth mindset, goal setting and persistence. These lessons encourage students to reflect on how they respond to challenges, manage setbacks and celebrate progress rather than perfection.

As a school, we are also working together to achieve our goal of covering more then 122 kilometres while raising funds for Mobilise, a charity that helps to fund housing outcomes for Australians. This day will be led by our Wellbeing Leaders and students are encouraged to bring a gold coin on the day.
