Mr Irwin's Message

Hello families and welcome to this week’s newsletter.

Oval works

You may have noticed that our oval is back out of action. Once we began having students on the oval we noticed there were significant issues with the oval being uneven suffering from poor drainage and hard and bare in parts.

Work has been undertaken to improve the surface to drain well and be nice and even. In the next day or so it will receive hydroseeding and then need time to grow over the next few weeks.

Senior and Middle School Camps

Our camping program has arrived. Over the next fortnight we will have our Senior and Middle School students heading to Camp Kangaroobie and Camp Wyuna respectively. In preparation for their camps teachers are working with students in the build up around expectations for behaviour, but also the importance of showing resilience and perseverance to move outside their comfort zones. That might be staying away from home, trying a new adventure activity or even trying a new food.

Lifesaving Victoria are joining us on Thursday to run a water safety incursion for all senior and middle school students as part of this preparation. We hope all of our students attending camp have a terrific time and take many positive experiences away from this opportunity.

Class considerations for 2027

Over the coming weeks as we begin to make preparations for the 2027 school year teachers will begin the process of creating classrooms groups for the new year.

Every year we provide families with the chance to share considerations they may have before teachers begin the class placements. This isn’t a chance for families to request friends for their children, or a preferred teacher, but more the chance to raise significant considerations related to student wellbeing they believe it important for the school to know as they work through this process.

If you would like to share any considerations, you have for your child they can be emailed to me via my email address by Friday 6th November at 4:00pm.

As part of this process all students will get the chance to complete a ‘friendship hand’ in class to guide teachers on who they see as the peers they would like to have in class they learn best and work well with. Every year we make the commitment that students will have at least one student from their friendship hand, which doesn’t sound like a lot, however we only commit to at least one per student due to how complex developing class lists is. Students will complete this process in class as a personal learning lesson guided by their teacher in the coming weeks.

A Busy Term 4!

I hope your children have enjoyed the return to school. It has been a very settled start to term 4 with many fun things on the horizon to look forward to. Make sure you check out the term 4 calendar to be around upcoming dates and events for the remainder of the year.

Bye for now and have a great week.
