Recently, GSSC celebrated another fantastic achievement at the Australian Sheep & Wool Show in Bendigo, the largest sheep show in Australia.

Following the 2025 Merino Wether Challenge, each participating school selected one freshly shorn fleece to compete in the newly introduced Merino Wether Challenge Fleece section at the 2026 Australian Sheep & Wool Show.

Each fleece was independently assessed by the Australian Wool Testing Authority, with placings determined by overall market value based on a range of wool quality measurements.

GSSC's fleece achieved an outstanding third place, finishing behind Geelong Grammar School and Murtoa Secondary College. With all sheep sharing the same genetics, results come down to factors such as yield, vegetable matter content and staple strength, making this an exceptional achievement.

Congratulations to everyone involved! We can't wait to see how this year's sheep and their wool measure up.
