Welcome Back to Term 3!

Welcome back to Term 3! I hope all of our students, families and staff enjoyed a restful break and had the opportunity to spend time doing the things they enjoy most.

It has been wonderful to welcome our students back to school this week. There is a real sense of excitement around the school as classrooms have quickly settled back into routines and students have enthusiastically reconnected with their friends and learning.

Term 3 is always a busy and productive term, with many exciting learning opportunities, events and celebrations planned. We look forward to sharing these with you throughout the term.

As always, thank you for your continued support and partnership. Working together helps us create the best possible learning environment for every child, and we are excited to see all that our students will achieve over the coming months.

Celebrating Positive Behaviour - SWPBS

One of the highlights of the start of this term has been seeing our SWPBS Celebration Tree continue to flourish!

Since our last Celebration Day near the end of Term 2, our students have collectively earned more than 2,000 positive behaviour acknowledgement eggs, meaning our Celebration Tree is now half full. This is a remarkable achievement and one that our entire school community should be incredibly proud of.

More importantly than the number itself, these acknowledgements represent thousands of moments where students have made positive choices, demonstrated our school values, and contributed to a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment.

It has been wonderful to see students return to Term 3 with such enthusiasm and a genuine ambition to learn. Every day, we see students showing Creativity as they embrace new learning opportunities, Courage as they challenge themselves and persevere through difficulties, and Compassion through the kindness, respect and care they show towards one another.

We look forward to watching our Celebration Tree continue to grow as students keep making positive choices each and every day. Congratulations to all of our students on this fantastic achievement. 

We can't wait to celebrate together again when our tree is full! 

School Uniform Reminder

As we move into the colder months, we'd like to thank families for their continued support in ensuring students wear their school uniform with pride. A consistent uniform helps foster a sense of belonging, promotes equity, and allows students to focus on their learning.

A few reminders:

• Hair longer than shoulder length should be tied back, both for student safety and to help minimise the spread of head lice.

   

• Socks should be plain black, white or grey in keeping with our school uniform expectations.

   

• On cold days, students are welcome to wear additional warm layers; however, outerwear should be a Box Hill North Primary School jumper or jacket. Non-school jackets and other outerwear should be removed once students are inside classrooms so that our school uniform remains consistent throughout the day.

   

We appreciate your support in helping all students present neatly and proudly as members of the Box Hill North Primary School community. If your family requires any assistance accessing school uniform items, please don't hesitate to contact the school, as we are always happy to help.

Upcoming Industrial Action

Stop Work – Thursday 23 July

The Australian Education Union (AEU) has advised that its members will participate in a second protected stop-work action this year under the Fair Work Act on Thursday 23 July 2026. This action follows ongoing negotiations with the Victorian Government as teachers continue to seek a fair and sustainable agreement.

As a result of this industrial action, we expect significant disruption to the normal operation of the school. We will have reduced staffing on the day, and it will not be possible to provide our usual teaching and learning program.

Students are not required to attend school on this day, and we strongly encourage families to make alternative arrangements and keep children at home where possible. Any absences will be recorded as 'Industrial Action' and will not affect individual student attendance records.

For families who are essential workers and require supervision for their children, please contact the school office as soon as possible so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Victorian teachers continue to deliver outstanding outcomes for students while facing ongoing challenges relating to funding, workload and remuneration. This industrial action has not been taken lightly and reflects the continuation of negotiations aimed at securing a fair agreement that supports both educators and the long-term sustainability of public education.
