ThinkUKnow Presentation Re-Scheduled
We received interest from parents to attend the planned ThinkUKnow presentation today (Thursday), however, the time of day (4pm) and being the second-to-last day of Term were not convenient for many families. So, having received this feedback, we have decided to postpone the presentation to a later date in Term 3.
We will advise as soon as possible of the new date, so people can plan and rebook accordingly. Our apologies for any inconvenience, and we look forward to seeing you at this important presentation in the future.
Alternate Pedestrian Walkway During Covered Court Construction
As we shared a few weeks ago, the School is very pleased to be commencing construction of a covered court structure on the court adjacent to the Argyle Motor Lodge. This project will deliver a purpose-built covered outdoor court at the Argyle Street Campus, addressing the current shortage of all-weather play, gathering and recreation space for students from Early Learning to Year 8.
The builder, Tascon Constructions, will commence construction this Monday 13 July 2026, with the project expected to be completed by 19 October 2026 (end of Term 3 holiday break).
Access to the Campus will remain along a dedicated walkway next to Friends’ Early Learning. Please refer to the following pedestrian map. We ask that all staff, families and students take extra care when moving in and out of the Campus in this area during Term 3.
What are the Quaker testimonies at Friends’?
Parents, guardians and community members are warmly invited to attend a discussion led by our Quaker Gathering Advisor, Jess Dundas, and Quaker Advisor, Mark Macleod, who will share information about the Quaker testimonies: Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Earthcare and Equality (sometimes simplified to “SPICEE”).
As part of the session, we will explore how some of these testimonies are expressed in daily life at Friends’ and in the wider world and together we will all brainstorm ideas for how you might encourage discussion and action.
When: Wednesday 12 August | 9am (tea /coffee from 8.45am)
Venue: Friends Meeting House - Argyle Street Campus (5 Boa Vista Road)
There is no cost to attend this event, however for planning and catering, please book here. We look forward to seeing you there.
Holiday Break and Term 3 Commencement
A reminder to families that Monday 27 July (Week 1 of Term 3) is a scheduled Staff Day. There will be no classes for students from Kindergarten to Year 12, and families will need to make alternative arrangements for students. Term 3 will commence on Tuesday 28 July.
To support staff wellbeing and provide our team with a well-earned opportunity to rest and recharge during the term break, Main Reception will be closed to visitors from Monday 13 July to Friday 17 July.
The School will remain fully operational during this time, with staff on site and contractors undertaking planned works. A number of our leadership group will take some leave during this break time, so please do not expect an immediate response to correspondence. Urgent matters can be directed to principal@friends.tas.edu.au. We look forward to welcoming families, guests and visitors back to Main Reception from Monday 20 July.
