From the Office

As we enter the last week of Term 2 next week, it is hard to believe we have reached the midpoint of the year already. The term has been filled with rich learning experiences both at school and also at the different excursions and sporting events we have partaken in this term. As always, it's pleasing to see our students learning to display our school values of being Responsible, being Resilient and being Respectful. Over the course of this term we have also been learning more about how to practice the GEM principles from The Resilience Project as well - with a focus over the last few weeks of practicing Emotional Literacy, which is being able to label, understand and express our emotions. We look forward to what Term 3 will bring, which will include celebrating 100 Days of Learning for our Prep students, Science Week, Book Week and another round of our Swimming Program.

Student Learning Reports - Student Reports will be sent home on Wednesday next week. A reminder that whilst this term our school will be providing Reports as usual at the end of a semester of learning, written comments will not be included due to industrial action taken earlier this term by the Australian Education Union which instructed members of the AEU to not write student specific comments on upcoming reports. Whilst an in-principle agreement has been reached between the AEU and the Department of Education; this ban remains in place. Whilst teachers will not be providing written comments this term, reports will continue to provide important details about student learning attainment and your child's progress. If families would like to seek further feedback about student progress and achievement, please reach out to our teachers. We will also be holding Student Learning Catch Ups again in Term 3 which will support these conversations.

Building Works - During the upcoming school holidays, the old Shelter Shed building next to our basketball court will be demolished. This building has deteriorated over the past few years, which hasn't been helped by some significant weather events and we are looking forward to having this removed from our school site and being able to use this part of the school in a more positive way.

Domino's Pizza - Don't forget to return your Domino's Pizza orders by Wednesday afternoon next week to join in our Pizza Day on Friday. Thanks to Mr. Collins for organising this special lunch!

Whole School Camp, Term 4 - In some exciting news, we will be running a whole school overnight camp in Term 4! This will be in addition to our Grade 3/4 and Grade 5/6 Cluster Camps which will also be happening as normal. For our camp we will travel to Melbourne on the train, before a day of activities and staying overnight at Urban Camp near the Zoo. More information to come!

Student Awards - Congratulations to our recent Friday award winners; Lucian, Siennah and Harvey.  Well done!

End Of Term Dismissal - A reminder that as next Friday is the last day of term, school will finish an hour early at 2.20pm. The bus will also run an hour early. We will be having an Out of Uniform Day next Friday as well, with more information sent home next week.

Thanks Everyone,

James
