School Sport Victoria (SSV) Events
SSV Eureka Year 7 Soccer
On Tuesday 23rd June BHS took two teams (Year 7 Boys & Year 7 Girls) to the SSV Eureka Year 7 Soccer event at Ballarat Regional Soccer Facility.
Year 7 Boys competition played a Round Robin competition with a Grand Final. The team played matches against Mount Rowan Secondary College (12 goals to 0 goals), Mount Clear College (8 goals to 0 goals) and Woodmans Hill Secondary College (6 goals to 0 goals). 3 wins qualified the team for the Grand Final against Mount Clear College. The team put on an absolute masterclass of skills combined with team work to win the match 8 goals to 0 goals in a strong display of dominance. The Year 7 Boys team were declared the Eureka Division champions for 2026.
The Year 7 Girls team had a much simpler task only required to play the one match against Mount Clear which they cruised through taking the win 4 goals to 0 goals.
Both teams have now qualified for the SSV Greater Western Region Year 7 Soccer competition on Thursday 6th August at the Ballarat Regional Soccer Facility
The school also had 2 students who umpired on the day.
SSV GWR Year 7 Girls Netball
On Wednesday 24th June the BHS Year 7 Girls Netball team qualified for the SSV Greater Western Region Year 8 Girls Netball competition at the Ballarat Netball Association.
The Year 8 Girls competition consisted of 6 teams competing in a Pool Play competition. BHS drew Pool A alongside Mercy Regional College (11 goals to 26 goal) and Emmanuel College (6 goals to 22 goals). Trinity College, Wimmera Lutheran College and the Mid West Division team made up Pool B. Unfortunately
With two tough games against regular finalist schools the team failed to progress to the finals.
SSV GWR Year 7 & 8 Boys Football
On Wednesday 24th June BHS had two teams qualify for the SSV Greater Western Region Year 7 & 8 Boys Football competition at the Marty Busch Reserve.
The Year 8 Boys competition consisted of a 5 team Round Robin. They played matches against Trinity College (11pts to 24pts), Horsham College (19pts to 3pts), Mercy Regional College (10pts to 21pts) & Emmanuel College (0pts to 26pts). One win secured the team 4th place for the competition.
The Year 7 Boys competition consisted of a 5 team Round Robin. They played matches against Trinity College (0pts to 6pts), Horsham College (6pts to 22pts), Mercy Regional College (18pts to 13pts) & Emmanuel College (0pts to 58pts). One win secured the team 4th place for the competition.
SSV GWR Year 7 & 8 Badminton
On Wednesday 24th June BHS took 4 teams (2 x Year 8 Boys, Year 8 Girls, Year 7 Girls) to the SSV Greater Western Region Year 7 & 8 Badminton competition held at the Ken Kay Badminton Centre, Ballarat.
The Year 8 Boys Team 1 were part of a 6 team Pool Play competition. They drew Pool B alongside Cobden Technical School (2 sets to 4 sets) and Mount Clear College (5 sets to 1 set). One win was enough secure a place in the playoff for 3rd place. Unluckily, Hawkesdale P-12 College declined the match but it meant the team finished in 3rd place for the competition.
The Year 8 Boys Team 2 drew Pool A alongside Hawkesdale (2 sets to 4 sets) and Woodmans Hill Secondary College (0 sets to 6 sets). Without a win on the board, the team finished in 5th/6th place for the competition.
The Year 8 Girls played a Round Robin competition with 5 teams. They played matches against Beaufort Secondary College (0 sets to 6 sets), Hawkesdale P-12 College (5 sets to 1 sets) and Mount Clear College (3 sets, 53 points to 3 sets, 50 points) to finish runners up for the competition.
Finally, the Year 7 Girls had 3 matches against Mount Clear College (5 sets to 1 set), Woodmans Hill Secondary College Team 1 (0 sets to 6 sets) and Woodmans Hill Secondary College Team 2 (4 sets to 6 sets) to finish in 3rd place.
SSV State Cross Country Championships
On Friday 24th July BHS had 8 students attend the SSV State Cross Country Championships at the Yarra Valley Race Course in Yarra Glen.
It's typical SSV State fashion - the course was extremely difficult and tested out all students who attended the event.
A big thank you to all the parents who transported their children to the event.

Josh Jolly BMX World Champion
Huge congratulations to past student Josh Jolly who was crowned the U/23 UCI BMX World Champion in Brisbane on the 18th & 19th July.
All riders had to face tough windy conditions so it was certainly a commendable effort from Josh to finish on top and be awarded the coveted rainbow jersey.
