Year 12 VCE students are entering the final stage of their secondary schooling. As Term 3 draws to a close, students are completing their coursework and final assessments and preparing for the VCE examination period.

The end of Term 3 and the first week of the school holidays will provide valuable opportunities for students to consolidate their learning, identify areas for improvement and build confidence through practice examinations and revision lectures.

Attendance Matters

At this stage of the year, regular attendance is more important than ever. Every lesson provides an opportunity to revise key knowledge, practise important skills, work with peers and seek clarification from teachers.

Being present and actively engaged in class will help students identify areas that require further attention and ensure they are as well prepared as possible for their final assessments and exams.

Practice Exams & Revision Lectures

Practice exams commence Friday 18th of September, beginning with English and Psychology. All students undertaking the final Year 12 VCE examinations are expected to sit the Kurnai practice exams from Friday 18th of September to Thursday 24th of September.

Practice examinations provide students with an opportunity to experience examination conditions, develop effective time-management strategies and identify strengths and areas requiring further revision. Students are encouraged to approach these exams seriously and use the feedback provided to guide their final preparation.

Revision Lectures

Revision lectures at Federation University commence Monday 21st of September. These sessions will provide an opportunity to revisit key concepts, strengthen understanding and focus on important examination skills. Students who have indicated that they will attend these lectures will receive further information about locations and arrangements in the coming weeks.

If students have a clash with a practice exam or revision lecture, please contact the relevant staff member as soon as possible so alternative arrangements can be made.

Preparing for the Final Exams

With the VCE examination period beginning with English on Tuesday 27th of October, now is the time for students to establish effective and manageable revision routines.

Preparation does not mean studying every available hour. A well-organised approach that combines regular revision, practice questions, feedback and time to consolidate learning will be far more effective than leaving preparation until the last minute.

Remember to Rest

While Term 3 and the upcoming holidays are an important time for revision, rest is equally important. Maintaining a healthy balance between study and time away from school will help students remain focused, motivated and prepared for the demands of the final examination period.

Regular breaks, healthy routines and time to recharge are all important parts of effective preparation.

Looking Ahead to Term 4

Year 12 VCE students will return for the first three weeks of Term 4 for a final period of revision and preparation before commencing their VCE external examinations.

We encourage all Year 12 VCE students to make the most of these final weeks of their secondary schooling, support one another and reach out to their teachers for assistance when needed.

The finish line is in sight – stay focused, look after yourselves and make these final weeks count!

History Revolutions

On Friday 28 August, our Year 12 History Revolutions class joined other VCE History students from across the Latrobe Valley at Traralgon College. We listened to presentations from historians who specialise in the American and French Revolutions, and had the opportunity to ask lots of questions about the topics we have studied throughout the year. It was great to hear perspectives from professionals who work in the field. One of the highlights was seeing an amazing collection of primary sources up close, including original handwritten letters from George Washington, King George III, and King Louis XVI! It was a fantastic day and a valuable experience for everyone. 

VCE Product Design & Technologies Takes Flight

On Friday 14 August, our VCE Product Design & Technologies students took part in the Drones in Industry program, delivered by a representative from Gippsland Tech School during Periods 1 and 2.

Students explored how drones are used across industries such as photography, videography, real estate and surveying. They learnt about the legal requirements and standard operating conditions for flying drones in Australia before developing their practical piloting skills.

The session gave students an engaging, hands-on opportunity to safely operate drone technology while learning about its growing role in industry and the career pathways emerging across the Gippsland region. Thank you to Gippsland Tech School for providing such an informative and enjoyable experience.
