Campus Principal

At the end of this term we will be holding our Parent Teacher Conversations over the afternoon of Thursday 17th September from 3:30-7:00pm and during the day on Friday 18th September from 10:00am-1:00pm. We encourage all parents and carers to take this valuable opportunity to meet with teachers and discuss progress, celebrate success and identify next steps as students head into Term 4. Students are encouraged to attend also and be active participants in the conversations. Bookings will become available soon through Compass.

As we approach the end of Term 3, it is hard to believe that our Year 12 students are nearing the final stage of their secondary schooling journey. After 13 years of learning, growth, challenges and memorable experiences, the finish line is now firmly in sight.

For our VCE students, the coming weeks are an important period of consolidation and preparation. With coursework and final assessments nearing completion, students are encouraged to make the most of every opportunity to strengthen their learning, seek feedback from teachers and build confidence ahead of the VCE examination period. Practice examinations, revision lectures and consistent classroom attendance will all play an important role in this final stage.

Our VCE students have also continued to engage in valuable learning beyond the classroom. From exploring primary sources and hearing from specialist historians during the History Revolutions conference, to developing practical skills through the Drones in Industry program, students have embraced opportunities to extend their knowledge and connect their learning to the wider world.

Our VCE Vocational Major students are equally busy, with community projects, workplace visits, volunteering, Market Day, mock interviews and pathway planning providing authentic opportunities to develop practical skills and prepare for life beyond school. Our VPC and Pathways students have also continued to demonstrate resilience, teamwork and commitment through community projects, barista training and course counselling.

It has also been wonderful to see our students involved in the broader life of the College. Book Week celebrations showcased creativity and a love of reading, while the SRC’s book donation initiative demonstrated the importance of giving back to our local community. Our sporting students have also represented Kurnai College with great pride, including our Senior Boys/Mixed Soccer team, who competed against the top school teams in Victoria after securing both Wellington and Gippsland Championships.

There is certainly plenty happening as we move towards Term 4. I encourage all students to remain focused, embrace the opportunities ahead and continue to support one another.

To our Year 12 students, the finish line is in sight. Take pride in how far you have come, make these final weeks count, and look forward to the exciting opportunities that lie beyond school.
