Dear Community Members,
It was wonderful to see Dawe and Alicia, our Timorese exchange students in the paper on the weekend. Accompanied by Pearl and Eva they spoke enthusiastically about their time so far at the College, as well as the strong connection between MacKillop Catholic College and Timor-Leste. Our relationship with Timor-Leste has been an important part of MacKillop's story for many years, and our community has proudly supported a range of projects and initiatives during that time. Welcoming these students to MacKillop marks an exciting new chapter in that partnership and gives us the opportunity to deepen those relationships and learn from one another.

To use a sporting analogy, Term 3 is the premiership quarter, particularly for our senior students. They are diligently working so far this term as the end of the school year will quickly sneak up on all of us. As we have begun Semester Two, many options have changed and students are enjoying experiencing new subjects, some for the first time. Current Year 7, 8 and 9 students will soon choose their subjects for 2027. Year 10 and 11 students have already chosen subjects. We are very happy that most of our Year 10 students are staying with us. It means we have such a breadth of curriculum occurring in the 2027 school year. So many different pathways which is of course, one of our central goals.
Our Penola construction is due to commence very soon. Tenders have closed and we are finalising details with our builder of choice. We are hopeful this construction will be complete by the commencement of the 2027 school year. We are still waiting to hear about application for the future specialist building, but it is all very positive.
Every blessing to the community!
