2026 NAPLAN Results

We are incredibly proud of the growth our students continue to make. NAPLAN growth data for 2026 shows that many of our students achieved strong progress in Reading, Writing, Numeracy, and Grammar &  Punctuation.

These results reflect the collective efforts of our students, staff and families, and our ongoing commitment to high-quality teaching that helps every learner succeed.

Understanding the comparison groups

To help schools understand how students are progressing, the Department of Education provides several comparison groups. 

• State results show how our students compare with students across Victoria. 

• Similar Schools are schools with student populations that have similar characteristics, such as levels of socio-educational advantage and school size. 

• Network Schools are the neighbouring government schools within our local education network. 

Comparing our results with these groups provides valuable context and helps us understand how well our students are progressing.

These results are outstanding and something our school community should be extremely proud of.

Student Free Day

Last Friday, our staff came together for a full day of professional learning focused on strengthening the quality and consistency of teaching across our school.

Throughout the day, teachers deepened their understanding of the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM 2.0), with a particular focus on explicit teaching. We explored how carefully planned formative assessment helps teacher identify what students know and can do throughout a lesson, allowing them to adjust their teaching and provide the right level of support or challenge for every learner.

Teachers then worked collaboratively in year-level and specialist teams to apply this learning directly to upcoming lessons. This planning ensures that learning intentions are clear, student understanding is regularly checked, and teaching is responsive so that all students are supported to make strong progress.

Professional learning days are an important investment in improving outcomes for every child. By learning together and planning collaboratively, we continue to strengthen our shared approach to high-quality teaching, ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Proposed Strike Day - Advance Notice

Unfortunately, the negotiations between the AEU and the Department are continuing and Wednesday August 19th has been proposed as another day of strike action.

At this time, there is no indication of what the impact of this will be on our school and this is unlikely to be known until a day or so before - if previous timelines are an indication.  

The Grade 3/4 excursion to the Kyabram Fauna Park is scheduled for this day. We will commit to this still being held regardless of the action. The children will be very much looking forward to this and it is an important part of their learning this term.  

We provide the advance notice of the potential strike action so you can start to consider alternative arrangements on this day, if the strike action is to occur.  The hope is that there is an agreement reached before this time that allows the intended action to be postponed, however, hope is not a strategy.

We will communicate with Camp Australia and determine if they are able to offer their service which may also be useful to families. This will be communicated to you all if it is an option.
