Reading at Home
Just a friendly reminder about the importance of reading at home each night. Regular reading practice helps children build their fluency, confidence, vocabulary and comprehension.
Please encourage your child to read aloud to you, even if they are becoming more independent readers. Listening to your child read gives you a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their progress, help them with tricky words and talk about what they have read.
With the school holidays approaching, there are lots of ways to keep children reading! Children can enjoy their school readers, library books, non-fiction magazines, chapter books or any other books that spark their interest. Reading a variety of texts helps children develop their vocabulary, knowledge and love of reading.
A few minutes of reading each day can make a big difference! Thank you for supporting your child’s reading development at home.
