RUOK Day

This morning our staff enjoyed a morning tea together to recognise the 2026 RUOK? Day. It presented a great opportunity for all to step back for a moment from the hustle and bustle of a busy school and just spend some time with checking in with colleagues.

I'd also like to ask all parents and carers to take a moment to check in with yourselves and those around you. Being a parent or carer is a tough job, with surprisingly little training to prepare you for the ups and downs!

Communication with Staff - Right to Disconnect

One of the reasons that working at Roberts McCubbin Primary School is such a privilege is the wonderful support that we get from our parent/carer community. With each interaction between staff and parents/carers, we can always be confident that the approach will be respectful, supportive and focused on what's best for our students.

We also understand that circumstances sometimes arise when parents/carers need to contact a staff member outside of school hours. In fact, many parents and carers only have the time to contact school staff outside of regular school hours.

Last year saw the roll-out of the new Right to Disconnect laws across Australia. The Department of Education has a policy guiding these laws, which work in conjunction with our school's Communication with Staff Policy.

As such, we do ask families to be mindful that in line with the right to disconnect, staff are not required to check or respond to emails outside of working hours - or outside of their work days in the case of part-time staff.

Teaching is a job that inevitably is not far from our minds 24/7, but thank you for supporting and respecting the rights of our staff to disconnect!
