Principal's Update

It's hard to believe we are already at the end of week 7 of Term 1! With only 3 weeks remaining of this term I would like to remind parents that the final day of term is Thursday 2nd April, which is also our school photo day. We will return to school for Term 2 on Tuesday 21st April, due to the Monday being student free day for staff professional development.

NAPLAN

Congratulations to all our Year 3 and 5 students who have sat their NAPLAN assessments over the last week. We will finish up with the Numeracy test on Tuesday 17th March. Students that missed a test due to being absent will have the opportunity over the next week to complete these.

I know that most parents are accustomed to the NAPLAN assessments these days.  However, I really want to be sure that all parents and families remember that this is just another assessment. Your children complete assessment tasks for their teachers all the time. This shouldn’t be made out to be any more important than those tasks. All we have asked is that students give the assessment tasks their best efforts, and they certainly have. I would like to commend the students on their concentration and efforts shown during the assessments so far.

Annual privacy reminder for our school community

Our school collects and uses student and parent personal information for standard school functions or where permitted by law, as stated in the Schools’ privacy policy and the Schools’ privacy collection notice.

Our Photographing, Filming and Recording Students policy, describes how we collect and use photographs, video and recordings of students. The policy also explains when parent consent is required and how it can be provided and withdrawn.

We ask parents to also review the guidance we provide on how we use the online programs safely at the school and what parents can do to further protect their child’s information. If after reviewing the guidance, you have any questions or concerns regarding your child using online programs, please contact the school.

For more information about privacy, refer to: Schools’ privacy policy: information for parents. This information is also available in eleven community languages, Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, Dari, Gujarati, Mandarin, Somali, Sudanese, Turkish, Urdu, and Vietnamese.

If you have any concerns please don't hesitate to contact me.

Have a great week!
