Reflecting on the Stations of the Cross: A Journey with Jesus
As we journey through Lent and prepare our hearts for Easter, we take time to reflect on the Stations of the Cross—a powerful reminder of Jesus' love, sacrifice, and ultimate victory over sin and death.
The Stations of the Cross help us to walk with Jesus on His journey to Calvary, pausing at key moments to pray and reflect on His suffering, courage, and deep love for all of us. This tradition has been part of the Catholic faith for centuries, offering a way to connect with Jesus' passion and to find meaning in our own struggles.
At school, our 5/6 students have been preparing to share our own version of the stations which we call 'Passion Plays'. The students have been working hard with their teachers to practice their lines, prepare costumes and familiarise themselves with the key moments from scripture.
A Time for Family Reflection
As we approach Holy Week, we invite families to take time to reflect on the meaning of the Stations of the Cross together. Here are some questions to discuss as a family:
How can we show love and kindness, even when things are difficult?
Who in our community is carrying a heavy cross, and how can we help them?
How does Jesus’ journey remind us to trust in God, even in hard times?
May this time of reflection help us grow in faith, gratitude, and compassion as we prepare to celebrate the joy of Easter Sunday.
