From the Principal
As we reflect on the year gone by, it’s an absolute privilege to share and celebrate the incredible achievements of our college, our students, and our broader community. This year has been filled with exceptional milestones, achieved through the collective effort and shared vision that make our school a truly special place.
We have witnessed extraordinary growth in student achievement across all areas of learning. From outstanding academic results to creative accomplishments in the arts, inspiring performances in sport, and innovative projects in STEM, our students have consistently demonstrated excellence, resilience, and a commitment to striving for their personal best. One of our greatest points of pride has been the positive growth in student outcomes, which highlights the hard work of our students, the unwavering support of their families, and the dedication of our teachers.
Our college’s success is underpinned by the incredible commitment of our staff, who work tirelessly to ensure that every student is supported and provided with opportunities to thrive. To our teachers, support staff, and everyone who contributes to making our school a vibrant, nurturing, and inspiring environment—thank you. Your passion and dedication transform lives and pave the way for bright futures.
A heartfelt thank you also goes to the members of our School Council. Your thoughtful governance, collaborative spirit, and steadfast focus on improving student outcomes have been integral to our success. Together, we’ve navigated challenges, embraced opportunities, and made decisions that put our students at the centre of everything we do.
As we look ahead, let us continue to build on this year’s achievements, united by our shared commitment to providing an outstanding education for every student.
It would be remiss of me not to acknowledge two of our senior staff who have decided to call time on their remarkable careers after many years of dedicated service to education and Cheltenham Secondary College in particular.
- Harry Stylianopoulos - bids farewell after 35 years of inspiring and guiding students.
- Marian O’Shaughnessy, with an extraordinary 47 years of service—32 of those with Cheltenham
On behalf of the entire community, I extend our deepest gratitude to Harry and Marian for their incredible contributions. We wish them a restful and fulfilling retirement—they will be missed by many.
We also acknowledge the following staff as they explore other roles and positions within education;
- Joelle Ferre
- Ben Gibson
- Romy Greenberg
- Dora Lakoumentas
- Kelly Spiteri
- Jess Kennedy
We wish them all the best for the future and thank them for contributing to the college.
As we approach the school holiday break, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in our college community a safe, restful, and joyful break. This time of year is perfect for reconnecting with loved ones, reflecting on the achievements of the past year, and recharging for the opportunities ahead. We look forward to welcoming you back in the new year, refreshed and ready for another exciting chapter.
Thank you for being part of this incredible journey.
Kind regards
Karl Russell
