H5 Bird Flu

Cases of H5 bird flu have been confirmed in birds across Australia, including in south-west Victoria. 

Our school has steps to follow if sick or dead birds are found at or near our school.

If you see a sick or dead bird at or near the school, please let us know. If you find a sick or dead bird in the community, the advice from the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is to: 

1. avoid contact and keep your distance
2. record date, time, location and take photos
3. report it to using an online form or through the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline: 1800 675 888.

Respecting Staff Work Hours - The Right to Disconnect

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the wellbeing of everyone in our Bimbadeen community, we would like to remind families about the Right to Disconnect and the importance of respecting the working hours of our teachers and staff.

The Right to Disconnect recognises that employees are not expected to monitor, read or respond to work-related emails, phone calls or messages outside their regular working hours.

What does this mean for families?

Families are always welcome to send an email or leave a message at a time that is convenient for you. We simply ask that you understand staff may not read or respond until they are next working.

During the school day, our school office remains the best first point of contact for matters requiring more immediate attention.

Why is this important?

Our staff care deeply about their students and their work. Like all of us, they also need time away from work to rest, spend time with family and friends, and recharge. Supporting this balance helps our staff to be at their best when teaching, supporting and caring for our students each day.

When might after-hours contact occur?

There may occasionally be circumstances where after-hours communication is necessary, such as an emergency, significant welfare concern or an urgent change to school arrangements. These circumstances are the exception rather than the expectation.

Working together

We greatly appreciate the support our families continue to show our staff. By respecting staff work hours and understanding that responses may not occur outside these times, we are helping to support the wellbeing of everyone in our school community.
