Infrastructure and Facilities Update

Dear Parents, Carers and Friends of JSA,

This term, our Infrastructure Sub-Committee has continued to focus on the longer-term needs of the school, with particular attention being given to accessibility, safety, security and the suitability of our learning environments.

Essential infrastructure maintenance remains an important part of our work. The committee has approved significant plumbing works to address deterioration within the school's sewer pit, while routine maintenance relating to landscaping, lighting, flooring, taps and pipes has continued across the site. We continue to work closely with contractors and the Victorian School Building Authority on outstanding building matters associated with Yaluk, including drainage, external doors and exterior finishes.

The committee is also working through individual infrastructure requests from classroom teams. Where changes to a learning environment are proposed, consideration is being given to the needs of the individual student, the purpose of the proposed change and whether alternative strategies or environmental adjustments should be trialled first.

While much of this work happens quietly in the background, each project contributes to the ongoing improvement of our school and helps us provide spaces that are safe, practical and responsive to the needs of our students.

Preparation is now well underway for the official playground opening, scheduled for Monday 19 October 2026.

We look forward to continuing this work throughout the remainder of the year.
