Outstanding Success at QCMF 2026

Last weekend, from 13-16 August, our eight premier music ensembles proudly represented the College at the Queensland Catholic Colleges Music Festival (QCMF), one of Australia's most prestigious school music events and recognised as the largest Catholic schools and colleges music festival in the Southern Hemisphere. The festival brings together thousands of young musicians from across Queensland, interstate and New Zealand to celebrate excellence in music performance.

Our students achieved exceptional results, earning an outstanding four Gold Awards and four Silver Awards, a testament to their dedication, talent and commitment throughout the year.

These achievements reflect countless hours of rehearsals, performances and preparation across the year. The boys also demonstrated remarkable commitment by giving up part of their Ekka holiday break to participate in the festival. Their conduct, musicianship and enthusiasm were exemplary, and they represented the College with great pride.

A sincere thank you to our dedicated music staff who worked tirelessly to prepare and support the students: Catherine Wasserman, Rory Dollard, Enrico Le Mura, Andrew Butt, Janelle Lee Long, Zac Moynihan, Jamie Kennedy, Alison Braidwood, Sam Blakeney and Melanie Stewart.

We also extend our heartfelt thanks to our parents and families for their ongoing support, particularly with transportation, encouragement and the many behind-the-scenes contributions that make opportunities such as QCMF possible.

Congratulations to all involved on an outstanding festival and a wonderful celebration of musical excellence.

DJ’s Shine at College Dances

2026 has seen several performance opportunities for students involved in the College’s DJ/Electronic Music Instrumental Music Program. One of the highlights has been the recent Years 5 & 6 and Years 7 & 8 College Dances, held in Week 5, Term 3. All DJ students were invited to perform at the event, with a great selection of dance hits, including some great retro throwbacks and remixes! A shoutout to our Year 8 Students who stepped up to contribute to the night’s music, who are to be commended on their efforts, with a great thanks to all students involved.
