Our Year 4–6 Athletics team produced an outstanding performance at the District Athletics Carnival, finishing 3rd overall against strong competition from schools across the district.
The result reflects the work the students have put in recently, with a committed group attending regular before-school training sessions in preparation for the carnival. These sessions have helped students develop their skills and confidence while also building a strong team culture.
There were some impressive individual performances across the day, with a number of students recording excellent results in their events and competing strongly against some of the best young athletes in the district. Excitingly 27 of our students progressed through their events to secure qualification for the next level of competition, and are now set to compete at the Division Athletics Carnival in early September.
While the individual results were a highlight, the overall team performance was particularly pleasing. Students supported one another throughout the day, celebrated each other's successes and continued to compete right through to the final events.
Congratulations to all students who competed as well as their coach, Mr Caines.

The Winter ACS season has reached an exciting stage, with 21 Overnewton teams competing in Grand Finals this week across a range of sports and year levels.
It has been a fantastic season for our teams, with students representing the College each week and continuing to develop throughout the competition. Reaching a Grand Final is a significant achievement and reflects the commitment of our students and coaches throughout the season. For our 21 teams, this week provides an opportunity to finish their seasons on a high and put into practice everything they have worked towards over the past few months.
We wish all of our teams below the very best for their Grand Finals this week.
