Interschool Chess Tournament
Wednesday, May 13.
The Auburn South chess team went to an interschool chess tournament at Brandon park. It was hosted by Chess Ideas.
Our names are Wenzhi C, Owen B, Noah, Luke L, Lucy L, Oliver H, Luke J and Marcus T.
Chess was very exicting. We got to learn new things and skills. We also made some new friends from other schools.
We came fifth on the school leaderboard. The top five had 17 points.
Wenzhi and Owen got medals because they were top of school.
We had an amazing time interacting with new people even if we didn’t make it in the top 3.
We all enjoyed the chess experience.

On Wednesday 13 May eight ASPS students entered the Brandon Park Chess Junior Interschools Chess Tournament. It was wonderful to see such a great turnout for ASPS including many first-time competition goers. Our students did very well, battling it out with almost 100 other students from a range of schools such as Glen Waverley Primary and Trinity.
In an exciting outcome for ASPS, two of our students were awarded medals and the team did well enough to qualify our top 5 players to the State Interschool semi-finals in October!
Well done to all the students who competed and their great contribution to the ASPS qualification.
Our next tournament is in July at Bialik, good luck team!
