3-4LG Starting strong!

We have started the year strong in 3-4LG, focusing on getting to know each other as well as settling in to the routines and expectations of the new classroom.
For the Year 3 students it has been a whirlwind of new experiences, and they are doing wonderfully. Our seasoned Year 4 students have been fantastic guides and helpers for our Year 3s and have been setting good examples of organisation, engaged listening and readiness to begin tasks quickly.
Favourite pieces of work
We have been working hard in class for weeks now, and have completed so many tasks with great results. Here are our students with their chosen “favourite work” to share.
Fluency Pairs
To improve our reading speed, accuracy and expression, students are asked to read a familiar text aloud to their Fluency Partner. After reading a short passage, the listener needs to provide feedback to the reading student; what they did really well when reading, and what they might like to focus on for next time. Then they swap roles and read again, providing feedback for improvement.
Wise Choices
In Religion, we have been learning about how to make wise choices in all areas of our lives. As a consolidating task, the students were asked to create a “recipe” of what is needed to make wise choices. The results are fantastic! Here is a sample of our "recipes".
