Gala Day
At the 3/4's gala day the house captains stepped up into the role of a coach and a footy referee for the year 3/4's and not just for OHR we also helped referee for another team. Whilst the game was in play, all of the kids played with such leadership and treated everyone very fairly by following the rules, not tackling and shaking hands at the end of the game.
OHR gave amazing effort and a lot of fun on our day getting to meet other schools. Everyone played well and as the house captains it was a good experience to learn how to referee whilst also having a fair game and learning from other people.
Winter Interschool Sports Overview
OHR have had so much fun playing Winter Inter School Sport this term. Each week we play another school in AFL9s, Soccer and Netball. It is always a tough competition and fun to meet new people and try new sports.
Each week we choose a MVP (Most Valuable Player) who contributed to the game. Congratulations to the students who were awarded MVP this term:
| OHR v | OLGC | St Roch's | St Anne's | Belle Vue |
| MVP | Amelia Dan Leo Mia Jasmine | Finley Harrison Joe Sophie Keilah | Amelia OliverM Emme Ollie F Arabella & Emily H Mia Andy | Finley Charlie Emily B Isaac Arabella Chloe |
Even though we lost some games and won some games, the best part was the sportsmanship and fairness. All the teams played extremely fairly and we are honoured to have the privilege to play interschool sports and make friends along the way.
HOOKin2HOCKEY AT OHR
About our coach:
I’m Rithika Karthik, and I’ve been passionate about skating and hockey for as long as I can remember. I started speed skating at age three and continued until 2015, before fully committing to inline hockey (hockey on roller blades). I represented India in World and Asian Championships from 2017 to 2019, winning a silver medal at the Roller Asian Games in Korea. After completing my Master’s in Sports Management, I’ve worked across many areas—coaching, officiating, event coordination—and now serve as a Participation Officer with Hockey Victoria. In this role, I keep the studen engaged by introducing them to field hockey through fun, active games. By fostering a positive experience, we encourage them to explore field hockey more, and if they’re interested, a great next step is to look into their local clubs around them.
The students are "Hockey Ready" and are enjoying learning new skills and many fun activities.
