CatholicCare Victoria's Asylum Seeker Support Program
Thank you to everybody who brought in items for the CatholicCare Victoria Asylum Seeker Support Program. This program helps individuals and families who have come to Australia seeking safety and a better life. Many families are waiting for important decisions about their visas and often have very little support.
Each class created a line of items out of everything they had donated. It was close but the longest line was from 1/2GK. The students from this class then enjoyed an extra 20 minutes of play.
RE Learning in 1/2GK
In 1/2 GK, we have been learning about how the Holy Family came to be. We have explored the important role Mary played in God’s plan and how her faith, courage and willingness to say “yes” allowed her to become the mother of Jesus. Students have been developing their understanding of Mary, Joseph and Jesus as the Holy Family and how their love, trust and care for one another provide an example for us today. The children have created some thoughtful questions for Mary as part of their learning. Their wonderings have been insightful and demonstrate their ability to think deeply, reflect and explore the meaning behind Mary’s important role in the story of the Holy Family. Please read the attched document.

Sunday Gospel
The liturgy of the Catholic Church provides a framework for reflection which is used by Catholics throughout the world. Each week in the Newsletter, you will find the Sunday Gospel as well as some discussion questions to have with your child/ren.
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew
Jesus instructed the Twelve as follows: ‘Anyone who prefers father or mother to me is not worthy of me. Anyone who prefers son or daughter to me is not worthy of me. Anyone who does not take his cross and follow in my footsteps is not worthy of me. Anyone who finds his life will lose it; anyone who loses his life for my sake will find it.
‘Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me; and those who welcome me welcome the one who sent me.
‘Anyone who welcomes a prophet because he is a prophet will have a prophet’s reward; and anyone who welcomes a holy man because he is a holy man will have a holy man’s reward.
‘If anyone gives so much as a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is a disciple, then I tell you solemnly, he will most certainly not lose his reward.’
