From the Classroom

Science

Grade 1/2

This term, students have been exploring the fascinating world of dinosaurs. They have been learning about dinosaur features, where these ancient animals lived, and how scientists use bones and teeth to understand animals from the past. Students investigated what dinosaurs ate by examining plants from long ago and today, and practiced drawing and labelling parts of a fern to support their learning.

Grade 3/4

Students explored how tomato plants grow, learning to identify the different stages from seed to fruit. They studied the parts of a flower and discovered how flowers help plants produce fruit and seeds through pollination, including the role of bees in carrying pollen. They also investigated how ants assist plants by moving seeds and explored which foods ants prefer.

Grade 5/6

Students have studied how living things survive in extreme desert conditions. They learned how animals use shade, insulation, burrows, and camouflage to stay safe, and tested which materials hold water best. They also investigated desert survival by making smart choices about essential needs. Finally, students researched an animal’s special features and behaviours and shared their findings with the class in creative and engaging ways.

Physical Education

It has been a fantastic and active start to the year in Physical Education! Students across all year levels have been developing their fundamental movement skills, teamwork, and confidence through a variety of fun and engaging activities.

Minor Games

Throughout the term, students participated in a range of minor games designed to build skills such as running, dodging, teamwork, and spatial awareness. These games encouraged cooperation, fair play, and decision-making in a fun and supportive environment.

Tennis

Students were introduced to basic tennis skills including grip, forehand and backhand strokes, and rallying. They worked on control, coordination, and accuracy through partner activities and small-sided games.

Cricket

Our cricket unit focused on key skills such as batting, bowling, and fielding. Students practiced striking, rolling, and throwing techniques, and applied these skills in modified games.

Cross Country

Our Cross-Country event is coming up soon on Friday 22nd May, with the Division Cross Country to follow on Wednesday 27th May in Term 2.
