I support investment in Marlborough Primary School NOW

Background information

As you may be aware, the MPS School Council has been lobbying State and Federal politicians for many years, to seek extra funding for our buildings and grounds. In particular, we have emphasised the need for a long-term Master Plan for Marlborough Primary School; A Master Plan is a long-term strategic document that aligns a school's physical infrastructure—buildings, grounds, and technology—with its educational goals, typically spanning 10–15 years.

Ahead of the State Election in November 2026, Tim Mulhall and I recently met with Rachel Halse, the Labor candidate for Ringwood to stress the importance of a Master Plan. She has subsequently spoken with The Hon. Ben Carroll, Minister for Education about the importance of securing funding for a master plan for Marlborough Primary School.

She said she stressed the significant role MPS plays within the local community, not just as a place of learning, but as a central hub for families and connection. She also highlighted the excellent work of the MPS school community in fundraising and supporting improvements. The commitment from parents, staff and volunteers is outstanding, but she said she made it clear that more needs to be done, and that government investment is critical to deliver the long-term vision for the school so our grounds can match the excellent teaching and learning our staff provide.

She believes it would be powerful for the Minister to hear directly how widely this need is felt across the community. To support this, she has created a petition for circulation within the school community, and her team will also be out doorknocking across the catchment in the coming weeks

How can you help:

  1. Sign the petition
  2. Share the petition via email or text message with your family and friends (we are keeping it off social media for the time being as we are at a crucial stage of enrolments for 2027) Please also consider sharing with former MPS students, staff, and their families
  3. Please mention the importance of funding Marlborough Primary School if you happen to be doorknocked by Rachel Halse's team.

Please also be aware that we have been having similar productive conversations with Nick McGowan who will be the Liberal candidate for Ringwood.

School Council will continue to drive these conversations in the lead-up to November's election and will work with our new Acting Principal Nadja Wood on this.

Working Bee

We have our first working bee of the year on Saturday 2nd of May starting at 1pm.

The focus will be some landscaping around the soon-to-be finished greenhouse including weeding, spreading mulch and making a pathway.

We look forward to seeing lots of familiar faces and meeting new families - kids are welcome and all those that participate will be rewarded with a canteen voucher!
