Principals Report

Dear Parents, Families and Friends,

Welcome to our first newsletter for Term 2. With great pride, I am happy to write about last Saturday, where he members of  St Mary's Primary School, Inglewood community gathered in Inglewood yesterday to attend a moving ANZAC ceremony. It was a beautiful and respectful tribute, bringing people together to remember and reflect. It was a privilege to join the wider community in paying tribute to the courage, sacrifice, and service of our Australian and New Zealand servicemen and women.

Our students participated respectfully in the march and stood alongside veterans, families, and representatives from local organisations and schools. It was a moving and solemn occasion, and we were proud of how our students conducted themselves with such reverence and maturity.

A particularly touching moment was the tribute to a local man, Charlie, who served in World War I. His story was read with great care and pride by family descendant, Brian Gladman, reminding everyone of the courage, sacrifice, and legacy carried through generations

Thank you to the families who supported their children’s involvement and to the staff who gave their time to ensure St Mary’s was well represented. These moments are important in helping our young people connect with the values of courage, mateship, and remembrance that are at the heart of the ANZAC legacy.

St Mary's Open Week

Next week, we celebrate Catholic Education Week across the Sandhurst Diocese, a special time to recognise the rich tradition and vibrant future of Catholic education. At St Mary’s, we marked the occasion with a variety of activities that brought faith and learning to life for our students.

During Catholic Education Week, St Mary's will host our Open Week for prospective families.

Families can book a time for principal-led tours, where they will see students learning in action and the wonderful grounds facilities we have at St Mary's. A follow-up information evening will take place on 27th May from 5:30pm, where staff will share what life at St Mary's looks like for students  child and how we can cater for your family.

As we celebrate the upcoming Catholic Education Week (May 4th-9th) throughout the Sandhurst Diocese, enrolments for 2027 are now open. We encourage all families to share their experiences at St Mary’s with friends and within the wider community. Sharing our story helps grow our school and welcome new families looking for a place where children thrive academically, spiritually, and socially.

Mother's Day

Next Friday, we host our annual Mother’s Day Breakfast and Liturgy. A special occasion in the life of our school, providing a meaningful opportunity to gather in gratitude and celebration. We warmly invite all mothers and special persons in our students’ lives to join us for this cherished event. The morning will begin with a shared breakfast, followed by a liturgy in which we come together in prayer to honour the love, care, and guidance these important people provide each and every day. To conclude our celebrations, we will run a short joint student-caregiver activity.

In advance, I would like to acknowledge and give thanks for the mothers, grandmothers, and caregivers in our community whose unwavering support, sacrifice, and love shape the lives of our children. The influence of these special people extends far beyond the home, helping to nurture confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging in every child.

As we look ahead to this celebration, we extend our sincere thanks to all who play such a vital role in the lives of our students. We wish all mothers, caregivers, and special persons in our community a wonderful and joy-filled Mother’s Day.
