Message from the Principal

St Peter’s School - an empowered faith community to enrich the world.

Welcome to Week 7 of Term 3

Welcome to Week 7! We only have two weeks left of term- how quickly it has gone! It is energising to have lighter mornings and to feel the days slowly getting warmer.

The beginning of Spring on 1 September also marked the beginning of the Season of Creation. From 1 September until 4 October, this annual celebration brings us together to protect our wonderful planet earth and consider our actions in the care of creation.

This happy coincidence of events- the retreat I have recently experienced, shared in my last newsletter article, and the beginning of this celebration has enabled me to think more deeply on how my daily actions impact the world.  This was also part of our discussions at our closure day last week. Sr Margaret led us through a reflection on Catholic Social Teaching, which includes Stewardship- Care for our Common Home. We were challenged to think about how our daily actions reflect all these principles. Do we research the background of retailers to know about their workforce, where they source products from? Are their practices embedded with these principles? It is challenging in the busyness of life to consider all of this, but as Catholics, these are the actions of our faith.

Update on building project

I am excited to share that the planning for the renovation of our Senior building is progressing well. We have been communicating with the architects to finalise our plans, have approval from MACS (Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools) and are preparing documents to go out to builders for tender.

We are beginning to move out of the building to ensure the builders have full access when it is needed. 5 /6 R are relocating to the current STEM room in the Junior building and will remain there until the project is finished next year. 5/6 Z will relocate into the  3/4 area, where there is space for us to accommodate another class. We will make timetable changes next term to enable STEM and Visual Art to share the Art room. This is a really exciting time for St Peter's as we will have amazing learning spaces for our senior students to enjoy - hopefully from the middle of next year!

Congratulations to our Athletic team

Please read the page regarding the success of our Athletics team at the recent District Athletics Carnival. Well done to all students involved and to Ms Natasha for her coaching of the team.
